Swim that Rock is the new novel by Jay Primiano and John Rocco. Set in Rhode Island, it is the coming of age story of Jake, a 14 year old whose father is a casualty of a fishing boat accident. Jake is gangly, all arms and legs, growing too fast in too many ways. His family’s diner owes a local loan shark who may repossess it, forcing them to move to Arizona. Jake feels responsible, as the man of the family, to make enough money to keep it afloat. How can a young man like Jake make money. Quahogging along? Piracy? As Rick Riordan notes on the cover blurb, you can smell the tang of the sea, and for us locals, you have the scent of home. Quahogging, fishing, various locales around the Ocean State are mentioned, and if you don’t want to run out for chowder, clam cakes and stuffies after reading this…well, you’re not from New England!
